Description: This presentation will guide the clinician in the RDN scope of practice for dietary supplements, and include a risk characterization framework for practitioner decision-making and client decision-making.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify key legal, regulatory, bioethical and scope of practice issues that guide and inform dietary supplement use in practice.
2. Develop a nutrition care process clinical decision-making framework for dietary supplement use in practice.
3. Develop a framework for assessing quality, purity, and identity of dietary supplements.
4. Identify core communication practices for clients for informed shared decision making for dietary supplement use.

Mary Beth Augustine is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Delegate in the Academy House of Delegates. Mary Beth is the Integrative Dietitian Nutritionist at the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Graf Center for Integrative Medicine in Englewood, New Jersey, and Founder and Director of Nutritional Healthcare in Mount Kisco, New York.
