Eating right is a good idea for everyone but learning to eat right and changing your eating habits can be daunting. That's when you might decide to call on a nutrition professional, but what do you need to know before seeking the advice of a professional?

There are many reasons for seeing a registered dietitian. It's not just for people seeking to lose weight. Some people find it difficult to gain weight, others have chronic illnesses such as diabetes, auto-immune diseases, cardiovascular disease or hypertension.

Some women seek advice at the beginning of a pregnancy while other women look for nutritional advice as they approach menopause. Athletes frequently consult with registered dietitians because of their tremendous demand for carbohydrates.

Parents deal with a host of nutrition issues regarding their children: e.g., obesity, feeding a teenage athlete, digestive problems, or Crohn's disease. Is your vegetarian/vegan child eating a well balanced diet with enough nutrients to support healthy growth?
